Haircut prices in Bangkok depend on the type of shop more than the cut. The same short back and sides costs more in a tourist-area salon or hotel than in a shophouse barber a few streets away.

Local Thai barber or salon
A local Thai barber is the cheapest option. Most are small shophouse shops with one to three chairs and a price list on the wall, often in Thai only.
What to expect at a local barber
- Staff may not speak English. A photo on your phone does most of the work.
- Most cuts are short. Clippers on the sides, scissors on top.
- A wash is not always included. Ask first.
- No appointments. You wait your turn.
When a local barber is a good choice
- You want a short, simple cut.
- You are fine with some guesswork on the result.
- You want the lowest price.
When a salon is the better choice
- Your hair is long, curly, very fine or much thicker than typical Thai hair.
- You want to explain the cut in English.
- You want a wash, a proper blow-dry, colour or a treatment.
- You want to pay by card.

Popular haircut styles in Thailand
Two styles are very common at Thai barbers.
- Rong song (ทรงรองทรง) is a classic short cut, very short on the sides and back and a bit longer on top. This is what many local barbers do by default.
- Two block has short sides and back with a clear line where the longer top starts. It came from Korea and is popular with younger Thai men.
If you say "short" at a local barber, you may get a rong song. If you want something else, show a photo.
How to explain the cut you want
- Save two or three photos of the cut you want, from the front, side and back if you can.
- Say how short is too short. "Number 2 on the sides" or "leave 3 cm on top" is clearer than "a bit shorter".
- Say if you want scissors only. Some barbers use clippers by default.
- Tell the stylist how you style your hair day to day.
