What good eyelash extensions look like
- Each extension sits on one natural lash only. Lashes should not be stuck together.
- There is a small gap between the extension and your eyelid. You should not feel pulling.
- The length and weight suit your natural lashes. Very long or heavy sets on thin lashes cause lashes to fall out early.
- Both eyes match.
- Your eyes do not sting or water for hours afterwards.
Watch out for glue fumes that burn, no questions about allergies or contact lenses, extensions applied to several lashes at once, and a price far below the local range.
Allergies and patch tests
Lash adhesive is usually cyanoacrylate-based. It can irritate the eyes or cause an allergic reaction in some people, and so can lift and tint lotions. A reaction can appear even if you have had lashes done before.
A good salon asks about allergies, sensitive eyes, contact lenses and recent eye surgery before it starts. Many salons offer a patch test before a first full set, so ask about it when you book.
At Metamorphosis, we offer a free patch test before your first lash appointment. We put a small amount of adhesive behind your ear or on a few lashes, and you come back after at least 24 hours. We recommend it if you have sensitive eyes, contact lens irritation or allergies to cosmetics. If you have a reaction to the test, we will not go ahead.

How lashes hold up in Bangkok's heat
Heat, sweat and skin oil can shorten how long extensions stay on. Humidity also affects how adhesive cures, which is why salons in hot climates choose their glue with care. To keep extensions on longer, try these.
- Ask which adhesive the salon uses and whether it suits humid weather.
- Use oil-free makeup remover and skincare around the eyes. Oil-based products can weaken the adhesive bond.
- Sleep with air conditioning if you can. Sweating around the eyes at night can shorten wear.
Checklist before you book

- Sleep on your back if you can. A silk pillowcase helps.
